“If you work really hard and are kind, amazing things will happen!”
-a GREAT quote to share with your kids as they start the school year!

September 15, 2015   Volume 3 : Issue 5
Hello-Every summer has its own story. I’m sure many of you had a summer full of memorable moments!

My own kids have been adjusting to new bedtimes, alarm clocks and new teachers.  We are often so excited to hear about our children’s school day, so we ask “How was school?” The response of my own kids is usually, “fine”. Not a lot of substance there! I came across a list of better questions to ask kids when they come home from school and I wanted to share some of them with you.

-If you had the chance to be the teacher tomorrow, what would you teach the class?

-What is your teacher’s most important rule?

-What was one thing you did today that was helpful?

-Who made you smile today?

-What would you rate your day on a scale of 1-10? Why?

I hope these questions help lead to more fruitful answers!

All Star Achievement:

One of our tutors recently shared some amazing progress she made with one of her students over the summer. Her student, a 4th grade girl, was struggling in math. She disliked math a lot. However, after gaining confidence in her math skills after months of tutoring, she began to enjoy math. As a result, she likes to do division problems for fun at the end of sessions. What a remarkable turnaround!
